My Resumé
July 2021-Present
What More Can I Shay, Freelance Designer
After years designing and leading multimillion-dollar socks programs in a corporate setting, I chose to leave my full-time role, of 11 years, to pursue other opportunities. Being in the mist of the pandemic, and working from home, starting my own Freelance business made the most sense. What More Can I Shay allowed me to expand my creative range and work directly with brands at various stages of product development.
In this role, I:
-
Create custom sock collections, seamless patterns, and textile graphics for fashion, performance, and outdoor markets.
-
Develop production-ready tech packs with detailed construction specs, yarn choices, and multiple color way options.
-
Translate trend research and consumer insights into commercially viable designs aligned with each client's brand.
-
Provide CAD mockups, renderings, and mood boards to support presentations, merchandising, and sample development.
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with brand owners, product developers, and factory partners to ensure alignment and on-time delivery.
Summer 2019 - Summer 2021
Implus, Intern Manager
I initiated the Design Internship Program for the Everyday Hosiery Department to allow the talents of local, diverse college students the opportunity to learn about a career option in their field that they may not be aware of. The experience covers the scope of the Design Process and puts them into the position to create designs that could potentially be shown to accounts and sold in stores.
September 2017 - July 2021
Implus, Category Lead
I was made Lead Designer for Dick's Sporting Goods, the largest account at the company. I was responsible for the creation and execution of Design Tech Packs across the Double Layer and Outerwear range. I initiated the research of relevant trends and communicated with cross functional teams (Merchandising, Product Development, and Sales.)
March 2015 - February 2021
Implus, Category Lead
I was made Lead Designer for Walmart, the second largest account at the company. I was responsible for the creation and execution of Design Tech Packs across the Spa Sock range. I was taken off this account to focus on the more pressing needs of Dick's Sporting Goods.
